2016 Dickens In The Valley Home Tour

The annual Dickens in the Valley is Saturday, December 3.  Hosted by Friends of Meals on Wheels, this holiday event showcases homes around woodland dressed in their Holiday best.  Each home’s decor is unique and reflects its owner’s taste.  I remember a few years ago a home decorated in African holiday decor which showed off the homeowner’s travels.  Another was decorated in the Victorian era.  All beautiful and unique in their own way.  This year will be no different!

What can I expect if it is my first time?
Ticket holders can start the Holiday Season off by visiting six beautifully decorated area homes.  What makes our Holiday Home Tour different than other area home tours is that the homes on our tour are decorated by the

What’s new this year?
This year instead of a raffle we are helping to promote Woodland businesses by having “door prizes” at 7 locations: Serendipity, White Barn, Well Stocked, Boxwood Nursery & Gifts, Corner Drug, The Gifted Penguin and the House Dresser.  Ticket holders who visit these stores on December 3 will be able to enter their names for a chance to win a special door prize from each store.  Only those ticket holders who visit that store and enter their names will be eligible to win.  Winning names will be pulled at the end of business on December 3.

Start off the holiday season in style by visiting five beautiful area homes decorated in holiday splendor on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.    Friends of Meals on Wheels present Dickens in the Valley, a Holiday Home Tour of beautiful area homes.  Tickets are $25 in advance and$30 at the door. All proceeds will benefit Friends of Meals on Wheels, which supports the Meals on Wheels, Yolo County for senior citizens.  The Meals on Wheels Program provides a daily nutritious meal delivered to homebound seniors and at local Senior Centers.  According to Christi Skibbins, Executive Director, over 82,000 meals were served last year in Yolo County.

This year’s Holiday Home Tour is generously sponsored in part by the Daily Democrat, TS and L Seed Company, Joe Muller and Sons, Jim andMaxine Polkinghorne, Mojo’s Lounge and Bar and Alderson Convalescent Hospital.

On the day of the event, tickets can be purchased at theHeadquarters/Hospitality Center, Mojo’s Kitchen 428, located at 428 First Street.  In addition, hot beverages and delicious treats will be available at the Headquarters.  Ticket holders will also get to enter their names into win several different door prizes located at our event partners:  Serendipity, White Barn, Well Stocked, Boxwood Nursery & Gifts, Corner Drug, The Gifted Penguin and The House Dresser.
