2nd Annual Dia de Los Muertos Celebration at Woodland United Methodist Church
October 12 @ 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeWoodland United Methodist Church is thrilled to announce its second annual Dia de Los Muertos celebration on October 12, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This vibrant, city sponsored event is free to the community and is part of the church’s mission to embrace and honor the rich Latino culture that makes up 49.6% of the City of Woodland, as of 2022 according to DataUSA.
“We are a church that is open to all,” says Pastor Joe Gonzales Director of Latino Ministry at Woodland United Methodist Church. “This celebration is not only a way to honor the traditions of our Latino community but also to demonstrate our commitment to inclusivity and cultural appreciation. Everyone is welcome, no matter their background.”
Senior Pastor Tom Widlund reflects on the importance of this event, saying, “We are committed to making our church look more like the community we live in. This celebration is a step toward healing and unity, as we strive to be a church that truly reflects the diversity and beauty of Woodland.”
The event promises to be a day filled with cultural festivities, including over 50 lowrider cars transformed into moving altars, traditional music performances, and family-friendly activities. The highlight of the day will be a special blessing ceremony for all the altars, followed by an enchanting performance by the all-female Mariachi Bonitas de Dinorah.
This event is sure to become a new tradition and reason to visit Woodland, CA.
