Photography 101

November 14, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 5:30pm on Tuesday, repeating until November 28, 2017

You’ve got the camera basics down, now what? We’ll go deeper into depth of field and focus, how Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO work together to give you a proper exposure and get you comfortable working in manual mode, why you want RAW files instead of JPEG and how light metering works and effects exposure. What’s white balance all about, using the histogram and when you might need equivalent exposure compensation. What’s all the fuse about HDR and start to learn the “Art of Seeing” using basic principles for composition.

You are ready for this class if:

You want to know how to manually input an exposure
You want to know how to see and read ambient light
You want to get comfortable with the overall operation of your camera so the technical stuff can become second nature
You are ready to control your camera rather then the camera controlling you
You want to start “seeing” to improve your composition skills

You will walk away with:

How to use your Aperture, Shutter and ISO to control light and get the perfect exposure
How to control and select your focal point
The freedom to NEVER have to use an automatic exposure mode again
How to avoid using the on-camera flash and how to use it if needed
Control and compensate for your cameras metering
How to read the color of light and adjust your color balance for the scene
Exposures for creating motion blur, freezing action, shooting in low light without a tripod and much more
