Are you aware of all the amazing programs The City of Woodland’s Community Services Department (Parks & Rec) offers? Here are five of them that should be on your radar. By the way, I’m hard pressed to pick only five! I’ve included links to other community programs at the bottom of the post.
Senior Art Show – Participants from the Senior Art Classes show their one-of-a-kind art at the yearly Senior Art Show. A wide range of mediums will be on display – paintings, woodworking, ceramics and more. Friday 3/4 4:00 – 7:00 pm | Woodland Community Center 2001 East Street.
Youth Boxing Club – What better way for your child to learn discipline and exercise at the same time than to join the Youth Boxing Club. M-F 3:30 – 9:30 pm at Yolanda Boxing Gym | Ages 10-17 Coed | Registration ends 3/31 | $9 for residents / $11 for non-residents
Camperships (Scholarships) – Over 400 scholarships are available for swim lessons, day camps, outdoor adventures and even lifeguard training. Check out qualifying requirements and available programs here.
Recreation Guide – Make sure to check out the recreation guide that just came out. There is something for everyone. Activities range from a free composting class to oil filter exchanges, Woodland Wreckers swim team to pickleball, and wrestling club to a Mad Science club. There are just too many to list!After School Douglass and Lee Teen Pack – This is an amazing drop-in, free after-school program for students that attend either Douglass or Lee Middle Schools. A Measure J sponsored program is supervised and has daily activities. Monday – Thursday after school – 5:00 pm | All WJUSD school days (except Fridays) | Douglass meets in the Happy Room & Lee meets in Room 41.
