Tomorrow night begins the Hot Summer Nights “Show & Shine” monthly car show at Mojo’s Lounge. Every third Thursday* through September you will find 40+ pre-1975 cars parked for our viewing pleasure. This is a fantastic downtown event for both car owners and guests.
Christy Hayes owner of Mojo’s Lounge & Kitchen428 and the creator of Hot Summer Nights was kind enough to answer some questions about this very cool event.
Location: Mojo’s Lounge on the corner of First & Bush Streets
When: Every third Thursday through September (except August, see dates below)
Time: 5:00 pm – cars cruise in and park | 6:00 pm – car show begins
What is Hot Summer Nights? What are the dates and times?
Hot Summer Nights is a Cruise In, “Show & Shine” monthly car show (May-September) taking place outside of Mojo’s Lounge on First & Bush Streets. The Car Show is every 3rd Thursday of the month (except for August due to the Yolo County Fair – see dates below). Cars cruise in anytime after 5pm and the show starts at 6:00 pm.
How old is the event and what is your role?
This is our 4th year hosting the Car Show and I am the organizer and promoter.
If I’m a car owner, what do I have to do to participate? Is there a fee to show my car?
There is no registration, the event is completely FREE for all cars and spectators! All pre-1975 cars are welcome. Cars can cruise in anytime after 5:00 pm with the show officially starting at 6:00 pm, lasting until 8:30 pm. Cars should enter on Bush Street and park anywhere on First Street or Bush Street.
I’ve never been to Hot Summer Nights. What can I expect to see when I get there? What’s the best way to experience it?
We usually have 40+ cars attend each month and live music, by local bands, starting around 5:30 pm. Food and drinks are available inside Mojo’s Lounge and other surrounding restaurants and bars (please no alcohol on the streets). Mojo’s also has open seating on the 2nd-floor balcony, where guests can bring their drinks to imbibe. The balcony provides the perfect location to view the cars and enjoy the music.
What’s your favorite thing about Hot Summer Nights?
My favorite thing about the car show is seeing the excitement in everyone’s faces; The car owners are excited to show off and talk about their cars with fellow car enthusiasts, and kids and spectators are happy to take pictures with the cool cars and lowriders!
