The California Honey Festival is coming back to downtown Woodland on Saturday, May 5, 2018.  Visit Woodland will carry a series of posts, sponsored by the Honey Festival, to help promote the event and to highlight the activities and events leading up to the festival.  The following is a recent press release by the festival.

Parenthood often means shelving your grown-up pursuits in exchange for activities that appeal to the little ones. Bar hopping turns into playground hopping. Weekend getaways turn into weekend playdates. Dinner parties turn into tea parties. Playing golf turns into playing Candy Land.

Finding an activity the whole family can enjoy can be a struggle. But at the California Honey Festival, May 5 in Woodland, Calif., there truly is something for everyone, from the youngest to the oldest and everyone in between.

The kids can explore the Busy Bee Kid Zone, which offers entertainment AND education in one place. Uncle Jer’s Travelling Bee Show helps children understand how bees pollinate and how honey is made during a fun and energy-filled performance. The Planet Bee Foundation will also be on hand to deliver an interactive, hands-on presentation about environmental stewardship. Kids will also be wowed by the deft hands of Dilly Dally the Clown as she twists and ties balloons into every imaginable shape — including, of course, honey bees!

Meantime, mom and dad can relax with a glass of honey wine or a pint of honey beer, enjoy the sounds of live music from the main stage, or browse the stalls of handmade crafts and artisan foods. Parents who are interested in bringing honey to their own backyards can also learn about beekeeping, pollination and creating bee-friendly gardens. And bee-ing that it’s the California Honey Festival, there will be plenty of honey to sample, as well as sweet treats and honey-centric dishes for the whole family to enjoy.

The 2nd-annual California Honey Festival will be held Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. in downtown Woodland, Calif. For details, visit www.californiahoneyfestival.com.
